Engr. LOPE COLUMNA is one of the Philippines' pioneering Filipino Engineers sent by the Philippine Government to the USA for Training in the field of Nuclear Engineering for the safe Operation and Maintenance of the First Philippine Nuclear Power Plant (PNPP-1), located at Morong, Bataan. He was involved in the Personnel Training, Construction, Steam-Turbine Generator procedure (SOP) writing, Testing, and Commissioning of the Nuclear Power Plant.


A PIONEER OF NUCLEAR POWER PLANT TECHNOLOGY IN THE COUNTRY

Did you know that the First PHILIPPINE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT (PNPP-1) unleashed the Engineering Talents of Filipinos, and it has become a womb that gave Birth to innovative Entrepreneur-Engineers in the Country? One of the firms that came out of the First Nuclear Power Plant in the Country is COLUMNA ENERGY CONSULTING. A PIONEER OF ENERGY ENGINEERING EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN THE COUNTRY

After leaving NAPOCOR, Engr. Columna also became the Pioneer of the monthly Energy and Engineering Training in the Country. Via these regular Technical Training-Seminars, Engr. Columna's advanced training and education were gradually transferred to industry and the academe. Also, these many training-seminars unearthed the problems and weaknesses that beset businesses and industries. These Energy Training-Seminars were conducted In-House and in Public, and were attended by many participants from the Country's Top and World-Class Corporations, as well as, from other Countries (Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Maldives).

Engineer Columna usually visit and have a tour of the participants' plants and factory sites during or after the Training. This gave him a visual firsthand knowledge and familiarization of those diversified industries. These many energy training-seminars include the Efficient Design, Efficient Operations, and Proactive Maintenance of the major energy systems and components of the commercial and industrial energy systems. 

In 1993, Eng. Columna, through his first firm VISIONEERING-ENERGY SYSTEMS, was chosen to be one of the Pioneer Tenants of the University of the Philippines Technology Business Incubator Project, Diliman, Quezon City. This TechnoPark project is under the Philippines' Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

Before becoming a licensed engineer, Mr. Columna also worked as an industrial Mechanic and Technician in many manufacturing plants. Thus, Engineer Columna was exposed to personal knowledge and firsthand experience of the problems plaguing industries that result in the huge wastes of materials and energy that are released to the environment, causing environmental pollution and the Climate Change disastrous effects. 

Engr. Columna also worked as a Teacher/Tutor of the competency-based Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning (RAC) ElectroTechnologies at Clark Education City (CEC-AITMG). This is an Australian-owned and managed Training and Management Corporation. Engr. Columna was also assigned to be the Supervising Engineer of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance of Clark Education City campus. 

He also worked as the ENGINEERING MANAGER of SHAQ Paper and Plastics, Co. Ltd. Here, he is responsible for the Energy Efficiency Improvements, maintenance, renovation, and construction of three (3) Manufacturing Plants. 

Engr. Columna also worked as an Energy/Power Consultant of ENERGY & UTILITY SERVICES of Singapore, and of KANOO Power and Industrial Projects of Saudi Arabia. He was sent to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to study its Power and Energy Services Market. 

Now, Engr. Columna is the ENERGY SPECIALIST to formulate a Sustainable, Environment-Friendly, and Efficient ENERGY MASTER PLAN for the Development of Metropolitan Cagayan De Oro in Northern Mindanao. This is a Government Project via NEDA.
